    The details of the actual watch are a little thin, I have a few clues but they seem to contradict the design of the watch actually supplied
    The watch is described as being Used By German Airman in the 1940s; 38mm in diameter; using a 17 jewel Swiss 281 movement; 60 seconds subdial at the 6 position;, 45 (sic) minutes subdial at 3 position; long indices at 3,6 and 9; RLM (Reichsluftfahrtministirium) ...

    The modern Air defence force of West Germany was founded in 1956 during the cold war and was a key part of NATOs strategic air defence network, at the same time as Russia was backing the Air force of East Germany, many German pilots how had formerly fought against the Allies were now being trained to use American equipment and Aircraft.

    During WWII the Italian Regia Aeronautica was split into two, the North fought with the Axis forces and was called the Aeronautica Nazionale Republicana (ANR) and the souths Aviation Cobelligerante Italiana (ACI) supported Allied operations. Total loses on both sides exceded 9000 personel and 5000 aircraft.
