    I know what you mean. I do a lot of watch rotation as well. Two days max unless I am traveling. Oddly, the only time I am bothered about gain/loss more than usual is when I am wearing a pocketwatch. I fear I will have to undergo therapy before I understand why!

    Perhaps it is because most of my pocketwatches are railroad grade and I think they should do better. But the reality of split metal balances, mean time screws, and how things warp over time means they will not do as well.

    When you think of the standards a RR grade pocketwatch is supposed to keep, you realize what a work of art it was. The common balance and hairsprings of today are improvements in the manner that fewer hands have to touch them to achieve the same degree of time telling.
