I think Longines has turned out some great heritage models.
I think Longines has turned out some great heritage models.
It does not grab me as something I would want to rush out and get.

Timefactors did one of these as a limited edition a couple of years ago.
Sold out now.
When I first saw those pictures on the internet, my heart was pretty set on getting one..... I waited for a long time for it to be available to try it on. The day came about a month back while I was in HK. I walked into the Longines Boutique, and asked to try as it was on the display window. And I thought to myself, ok, this will be an early Christmas gift to myself (I am full of excuses....).
But, sadly, after putting it on, my excitement for the watch kind of dwindle. Here is a picture.
What didn't I like:
* Date function
* shiny, too blingy on this watch.
* and some how, the edges/ angle somehow feel awkward....
(Of course, these are just things that didn't work for me)
Sigh...it would have been a nice gift to myself...

Puts me in mind of the Glycine Eugine Meylan... didn't Longines do something similar too?

They did. It was the Spirit line, that included a 3 hander and a chrono with a choice of white or black dial:
