Never happens to me - I sleep very well. However, I'd probably make pancakes, as I've never made donuts.

My sleep is crap. Crazy schedule, among other things, so I'm frequently up in the wee hours. Sometimes I'll tinker with watches, but rarely will I tackle anything tricky. Lots of websurfing for watches, but I haven't made any wee-hour purchases yet. After a number of beers one evening, I did purchase a Mondaine, though.

I can't sleep if I have a big project starting that day or I ran into a problem in the middle of something. I sometimes wake up with the solution. Unless I've exhausted myself the day before I've been know to get up and start working on something in these wee hours. Mostly I take on things that hopefully don't make much noise. I'm always doing projects and I'm also a big planner. probably a good thing that Home Depot and Lowes are not open 24 hours or I would be there. One time for example I woke up around 2am and sealed my paver driveway when I could not sleep. I figured out how to mark where I had coated and it is pretty well lit so I did not have to go back a retouch anything. When my neighbor came over at 7am to help me I had everything cleaned up, and took a shower so I just took him to breakfast. I helped him the week before to do his so I had the process down. I've never thought to cook anything during this time.
    Cheers,

    Michael

yes tend to try to keep the noise down as the old folks don't sleep well as it is so maybe sometimes if they are having a restless night might make me in turn feel restless I tend to start doing thread ideas that I build on during these times in to workable threads sometimes find loads of useless facts passes the time and amuses me

I'll have to weigh in on the negative effects of chocolate and sleep. As much as I adore the stuff, any chocolate after 6pm for me and I'm up all night.

Much is bloated with sugar whereas the higher cocoa very little. These work for me
Could be why drinking chocolate used to be , before it is mainly now full of rubbish.
