Guitarist Tommy Allsup.
Although he played for just about everybody in American country, rockabilly, and, swing genres, he'll always be be known for the fact that he lost a fateful coin toss in 1959.

Ah yes, the infamous coin toss that kept Allsup out of the cornfield that claimed Holley (correct spelling), Valens, and Richardson. Wonder if Allsup kept that fateful 4-bit piece.

Anyone around the Philadelphia/Delaware/New Jersey area in the 1980s knows the name Nicodemo Scarfo.
If you want to while away a few hours and get a sense of the real mob in the North East, read some of this guy's history.
Definitely not someone you'd want to hang around with.
