The IWL watch is more exclusive, looks better, and isn't associated with any gigantic douchebags. We win.

This is truly an internal fight for me. The libertarian business owner in me says a company should be able to do whatever they want with regards to their own products. The watch aficionado feels that this is some elitist bullshat that feels wrong. What makes him think his watches are even worth buying at all much less by invitation and for 3 grand? Ferrari does this with their "upper line" and we don't fuss about it. But this just rubs me the wrong way.

Biggest question for me is why would Hodinkee even write about this guy? If he wants to be a douchebag, then let him. But why a site trying to be serious about watches would do an article like this is beyond me.

Clickbait. He even mentioned in the article that the comments section would be full of ticked off people.

Doesn't make it any less sad if that's the case...

1. People do fuss about the Ferrari thing.
2. He has every right to be an elitist douche about it.
3. We have every right to call him out for it.

There's no way I'll waste my time thinking too much on this "thing".
As far as I'm concerned, the guy can have his watches and eat them. With potatoes. Cold potatoes. That's it. Oh yes: dixit.

I also wouldn't be surprised if an editor of Hodinkee was one of the chosen.
