Apparently it's possible to make money in the watch industry

    Just saw this yesterday.

1 billion SEK profit for Daniel Wellington ($111,5)
    http://nordic.businessinsider.com/da...-profit-2017-6

Seems not all brands are struggling. More profitable to buy cheap Asian-built watches and sell at a high markup here, than it is to develop and build something yourself...

But at least it seems people are buying watches, just not the ones we normally discuss here... Still there are stories about people starting with DW and then moving on to other things, so in my book this is a good thing.

So build a cheap fashion watch is what they are saying? And I use fashion watch as a loose term. Most of my friends own a DW.

Guess it's difficult now though when DW has cornered the market.

My friend's wife works for DW, so now a bunch of my friends have one. They look good, I can't take that away from them.

Apparently it's possible to make money in the watch industry

According to Watch Time the down turn is purely a Swiss thing, and in many ways due to their greed. The German watch industry has had incredible growth over the past few years while the Swiss haves seen major declines over the same time.

I've never heard of DW but will note they look like non mechanical Nomos/Stowa clones. See German watches are winning even when they are Asian.

Don't see much of it here, but on other watch sites it's mainly because they're cheap quartz I think.

I don't mind them, I wouldn't buy it since I don't want to overpay for something that they probably buy very, very cheap.
