With the two tone Starliners there are numerous watch specific clues. Often redialers assume the grey is faded black and repaint that half black. They don't use transparent paint so the brushing disappears, they get the dark and light halves reversed (the two halves are opposite of the colours on the applied Starliner crest). The most common giveaway on the Starliner though is a poor line between the two dial halves. Often the pillar markers are replaced incorrectly. If you look closely you can see that they are peaked and each peak points to the centre of the dial.
