    Electro plating terminology

I've been searching for info on electro plating or replating a watch case and find very little.

Is there an alternative or technical term I should be searching on?

    That was an interesting link...

I'm a bit intimidated by the complexity of the setup...

I think I'm now looking for someone to do the work for me.

    Any recommendations?

Yeah you would need a little bit of kit .... depends how much you want to do.

I can't help further , I'm in the UK .... just reach out to some electroplating companies and see what they'd charge , you can obviously post it out to them so distance shouldn't be an issue. (plating's plating)

Not sure you'd even have to remove the glass ?

If you're in a big enough town there will usually be a plating service that can do stuff like chrome and gold. If you have custom jewelers they may to some themselves, usually rhodium for going over white gold. But often custom jewelers farm out plating and casting to specialist companies.

The big thing with plating though isn't the plating, it's the base polishing. Most of the work is the prep before the actual plating, but an experienced plater is still needed to manage the job, proper cleaning, different concentrations, alloys, what anode types, temperature, amperage, etc...

    Thanks. Very helpful.

I'm realizing this is going to be non-trivial and probably prohibitively expensive job, given the scratches and scars in the case.

They would just put it, more or less, in with a larger batch of a same metal plating job/process.

A customer friend of mine (A real gent called Mr Gent) used to run a plating company and he did a lovely silver plate job on a desk clock a long time ago (he put a extra thick layer on it).

He took me round the place , just open baths/vats of chemicals everywhere, and jobs waiting to go through the system (He's probably long gone now)
