Thread: New Orient M-FORCE.

    New Orient M-FORCE.

Just unboxed my latest watch, straight from Chiba, Japan. They call it the 'Delta' at Orient's USA site.

As close as I'll get to a PP Nautilus or AP Royal Oak. (Basically the faint similarities are the integrated bracelet and textured dial).

It's big, not a homage as far as I can tell, and is supposed to be tough with a movement support something or other. It's also an ISO Diver, unlike its more popular Mako and Ray siblings.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it for what I paid (less than a grey market Seiko Turtle). Crystal is sapphire, it's made in Japan, it has Orient's midrange hacking and handwindable bidirectional automatic, with date and power reserve indicator. It's accuracy spec is in the Seiko 6R15 and Miyota 9015 class, above the Seiko 7S/4R and Miyota 82xx class.

Design and finishing is very nice. Mix of high polish and fine directional brushing with good crisp transitions. The bracelet is the same combination, but interestingly it's single links, despite what it looks like on the outside.

And then we get to the clasp. Sigh... Well nobody's perfect. It's stamped, it's polished, there's no dive extension, it works, and that's about all that needs to be said. For stamped clasps, look to the Seiko Monster (don't know if other Seiko divers share it) for a really superbly engineered clasp, despite the cost-savings of stamping it.

Anyways, still an awesome watch. Here are some pictures, the bracelet isn't sized yet, and I have some 2nd Seiko Monster pics for size reference. The price really, really puts the newer Prospex Monster into perspective.

Edit: Deleted box pic and added lume comparison. No surprise that the Monster is the boss here, but it seems to be more a factor of surface area/indices size. The Orient's pretty much as intense, but less surface, so less overall brightness. Both look way brighter in the photo than reality, probably due to phone's camera settings.
