Well find out soon! They're leather - I don't know if the holes in the toe are functional. The only downside is the stripes are actually patent white. And the fact that it says 'nizza' on the heel quite visibly! It's the model name and I don't know what it means but still.

I really like these, but $85 seems like a lot for a pair of shoes that don't seem like they'll last all that long. But my Bucketfeet are getting pretty beat up, and I'm looking for a replacement--and they're $90 now.
The season of sock-wearing is near, but I'm not ready to embrace it yet. I might try the new Vans Pro series, with the upgraded cushioning and structure. They're like $55-60.

I have these in a different color scheme and with laces. Really nice sneaks. I like them for driving.

Nowadays Asics are divided into 3 sub-brands:
Onitsuka Tiger - classic, low tech sneakers (Mexico 66 is an example here)
Asics Tiger - classic sneakers with technology (gel lyte and kayano trainer belong here)
Asics - the high tech modern runners (Nimbus, kayano belong here)
Personally I'm not a big fan of thr first group as the sneakers are usually harder and more narrow for my foot...though the made in Japan ones are good (and expensive...)
