Glad you asked, MM - not only do I have that "stuff", I wear it too. I am definitely in the ATGATT-camp*
I have had two involuntarily offs in nearly 37 years of riding and I walked away both times. Especially the first time, it would have been a very different story had I not been wearing my riding-gear - I was left with holes in my nearly new leathers and the helmet had to be replaced.
To most it's obvious that mc-leathers have (quite) a bit of protection in them and the leathers in the above picture are indeed stuffed with hard body armor. Less obvious is the protection provided by my all-weather gear / suit - I used to commute on my motorcycle when I still lived in The Netherlands and I have logged more miles in the rain than in dry conditions. I digress; my all-weather suit is made out of kevlar reinforced GoreTex and its abrasive resistance is even superior to leather. And features knee-, hip-, elbow-, shoulder-, back- and lung-/chest-protection.

Do these count?
I just picked up these Nordicas at a very good end-of-season price, to replace my old Garmonts. True to form, it hasn't snowed since; the main ski resort here on the island is now closed due to lack of snow. Oops...jinxed it.
Also just picked up another pair of flip-flops by Clarkes. These are sooo comfy:

I've heard good things about those Clarke's flip flops, Sherry. My sister in law swears by them.

I love them, and wear then all year round. The sole is amazing; comfortable and durable. The leather upper is adjustable via a Velcro strap. Four colors available: black, blue, tan, white. About $60 here, but well worth the price, IMO.
