    Lookin' for a GMT

    Hello IWL,

I've been searching for a suitable GMT watch to compliment my lineup. I like variety and try to follow my self imposed rule of one piece per brand, but that's not so strict if the watch otherwise feels perfect. There are many nice ones out there, but I haven't yet found the right one that ticks all the boxes. That's why I'm now asking for your suggestions.

I'm hoping to find something that fits these parameters:
    - Preferably within 1000 € budget
    - Size in the range of 38-42 mm
    - Style more on the sporty side than dressy
    - As thin as possible for wearing comfort
    - Automatic, quartz, solar, kinetic, anything goes
    - So far I have Nomos, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn and Zenith covered
I'm hoping to get excellent recommendations from all you knowledgeable forum members.

Wait for the Tudor announced at Baselworld.

To my eyes, it’s more appealing than the Rolex GMT also announced at Baselworld.

What I wouldn’t do is go for anything with the ETA movement. It works ‘the wrong way round’, with independent GMT hand rather than independent hour hand. Having owned both types, it makes far more sense for GMT to stay put while hours are advanced or retarded. It’s the nature of GMT, after all.

Rolex/Tudor and Seiko work the ‘right’ way. I’m not sure which others also work this way.

And of course, I can heartily recommend an Explorer II like mine.

I love my Steinhart Ocean Vintage GMT and and my Squales. The blue/black is only available used as it was a limited edition of 150. The Tropic is available through Gnomon.

Nope. He means he wants a €1k gmt, already has a rolex, and doesn't want another watch of the same brand. You're right in that it's a moot point, mind...
