We covered the Diewald Seahorse earlier this year and interviewed the brand’s founder, Martin. In that interview, he teased us with a new release and it is here: the second generation, the Diewald Seahorse II, launches on Kickstarter tomorrow, April 17th – with prices starting at an amazing €179.
Coming to Kickstarter: Diewald Seahorse II

One of the things we loved about the first generation of the Diewald Seahorse – apart from its stunning looks – was the price, which made it an absolute bargain in our opinion for an automatic 200-metre dive watch. This time, the distinctive triangle markers have been dropped in favour of more conservative circular markers. We loved the triangles of the first generation but this new design is just as distinctive, albeit a little reminiscent of the Tudor dive watches of the 1970s with the four triangular markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9. The dial is still a “sandwich” design (the markers are cut out of the dial to reveal luminescent material beneath) which should give it some depth, and all the other specifications are as expected for the price range.
