CITIZEN unveils world’s most accurate movement Cal.0100

You all know my love for quartz. Citizen takes quartz to a new level, crushing Seiko's 9f on it's path with only +/-1 sec a year! I found a good clip on the 0100. I wonder Seiko's countermove, the new Citizen is solarpowered, would love to see a new tc haq war

Didn't read it but do accuracy stats ignore variances due to temperature, or must that always be considered?

it's thermocompensated and uses a "stickshape' oscillator instead of a tuningfork to create more stable frequencies. They explain the whole thing in the video, witch is very informative in my opnion

a hodinkee article on the movement. I'm curious to see what watch(es) they will come up with. IMO the chronomasters are still one of the most pretty watches on the market....

I would be very interested in seeing if they can make a smooth sweeping seconds hand with solar charging. My understanding is that the smooth sweep takes a lot more current to maintain. The Precisionists and hi-beat Bulovas use big 2025 or 2032 batteries to keep them going for a year.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

if executed perfect, i would prefer a crisp 'tick" of the hand (right on the marker) over a smooth sweep. Also the snap dateswitch at 00h is superb, Citzen gets this right, GS doesnt, the GS switches at twelve-ish, where citizen snaps at midnight, i deffo will follow up on this movement

Yes indeed. That's why the comparison. The Precisionists tempted me many times, but I didn't like the large sizes. Now that they have some better looking hi-beats in the Accutron II line, I'm sorta over it. I realize I wouldn't wear it (too many other choices to cycle through.) I still have several EcoDrives, and I like them very much.

I am dreaming about a chronomaster for years now. Too expensive to buy online tough. I hope the design of the chronomaster combined with the new movement. Thàt would get my attention and money. ...
