We’re in the thick of trade show season, with SIHH having just passed and Baselworld fast approaching. That means that brands are gearing up to unveil their first batch of 2019 novelties, and today we received a small preview of what Hamilton has in store (spoiler alert: it’s good stuff).
*Three New Khaki Field Mechanicals

Hamilton’s Khaki Field Mechanical collection, inspired by the brand’s issued watches from the 1960s through the ‘80s, is extremely popular with both well-informed collectors and lay consumers alike, so it makes perfect sense that Hamilton would continue to grow the line. The expanded collection now includes three dial colors, two cases, a new movement, and a selection of straps.*
In addition to nylon, there are now vintage leather mil-straps.

Measuring 38 millimeters across, the stainless case is rendered in blasted steel and what Hamilton is calling “earth PVD,” which is a sort of rustic treatment that hints at patina. The dials are available in black, any earthy color Hamilton are calling green, and white—all three with ecru-colored Super-LumiNova that, in my opinion, doesn’t feel out of place. For my money, the white dial is ace.
The new white dial and the “earth PVD” case with green dial.

Powering the new Khaki Field Mechanical line is Hamilton’s H-50 caliber, a hand-cranker with a whopping 80-hour power reserve. This movement first made its Khaki Field Mechanical debut in a limited edition watch produced for the website, Uncrate, but it now comes standard across all three models.
Intra-Matic Auto Chrono with a Blue Dial

Last year, Hamilton unveiled the new (an improved) Intra-Matic Auto Chrono, which featured a smaller 40-millimeter case (the first iteration, the Intra-Matic 68 Chrono, had a noticeably larger 42-millimeter case and was a limited release). The watch, which pulls inspiration from some of Hamilton’s most beloved vintage references, was a huge hit.
Now, Hamilton is bringing out a version with a blue dial and off-white counters. This twist on the reverse panda is incredibly good looking, with Hamilton using just the right hue of blue and pairing it with creamy accents that add the correct amount of warmth to the dial.*
Powering the watch is Hamilton’s H-31 automatic chronograph movement, which is based on the Valjoux 7753. The H-31 features 27 jewels, a chronograph function, hacking seconds, hand winding, a date complication, an upped power reserve of 60 hours, and a frequency of 28,800 bph. The date is not advanced via the crown here. Instead, there’s a quick-set pusher at 10 o’clock for changing the date.
We’ll be previewing these watches real soon, so stay tuned to Worn & Wound for some in-the-metal photos . Pricing is not yet finalized, but I’ll update this space as soon as it is.
