I'd say that's closer to a 303 than a 404.

I think the choice of an anchor as Rados logo was a purely arbitrary oen, but it does work the same way a winding mass does. The moving anchor is only used an automatic mechanical Rados, with one or two exceptions. Originally the disc was made of the same synthetic ruby as is used for the jewels in the movement. Sometime in the 1970s it was replace with anodized aluminum. This watch has an aluminum disc. In 2002 for the fortieth anniversary Rado used a natural ruby for the disc in the 40 Years of Diastar LE.
The anchors do get fouled and seize. Rado used to say that it was a service indicator. If your anchor no longer moves your movement needs a COA was their claim. The truth though is that the anchor and the movement are independent of each other.
