When it comes to shopping for vintage watches on eBay, it can be a gold mine, but it can also be a minefield. Our very own Christoph McNeill (you all might know him as Instagram’s @VintageDiver) wrote a must-read, common sense guide to buying vintage watches on eBay (check out Part 1 and Part 2). So if you’re looking for a vintage watch, but are still a little nervous diving head-first into those murky waters, then don’t worry—we’re here to help. *Today, we have another installment of eBay Finds, our series where we highlight some great vintage gems looking for a new home. Happy hunting!

Seiko Diver Ref. 6105-8119

The Seiko 6105-8119 is a dive watch icon, and with the release of the new heritage SLA033 at Baselworld this year the original was bound to get more attention from collectors. These are not easy watches to find in excellent condition like the really nice example we have here. It appears to be unpolished, retaining much of the original brushed finish, and the lume on the dial and hands looks perfect. Sadly, so many of the ones you generally see have that dreaded “black funk,” on the lume, so it’s refreshing to see such a clean one — especially for auction rather than with an overpriced “buy it now.” From the description it would appear that this one needs a service, but that shouldn’t deter you from throwing down a bid if you’re in the market for one of these.

Baylor Rally Dial Chronograph (with a Valjoux 7734)

Here’s a great vintage Baylor chronograph that’s reminiscent of the highly sought-after 666ft “Surfboard” chronograph from Bulova. It features an attractive cushion/square case (it looks a lot like the Heuer Camaro case) that still retains much of its original brushed finish, and it measures a respectable 37mm wide. The case also comes with the original crown. The white dial with the blue “surfboard”-style sub-dials is in great condition with minimal aging. Powering the watch is the workhorse Valjoux 7734 — a great hand cranker. Altogether, this is a solid vintage chronograph that shouldn’t break the bank when it’s all said and done.

Titus Calypsomatic Diver

The Titus Calypsomatic has been a highly sought after vintage diver for some time, but in recent years the demand for it has really picked up. This example has a superb dial and hands, and a bezel that is faded to perfection (that’s the sort of patina you want). Oh, and this one even has the original bracelet with a signed clasp. There’s lots of crazing on the crystal, so it needs a replacement crystal, but that’s a simple fix.

Wittnauer Professional Chrono-Date (with a Valjoux 7734)

When it rains, it pours. Here’s another great vintage two-register chronograph. This Wittnauer has a clean blue dial with large white chronograph registers, and the lume is aged to perfection. The large steel hands and bright-red chronograph seconds hand look great paired with the dial. The square steel 40mm case has some scratches, but it also retains the original brushed finish, which is what you want.
