    Wimbledon

Just wanted to say that the men's final was truly epic. Just incredible to watch. I say this as someone who played fairly serious tennis decades ago, which I think gives me an even greater appreciation of what those guys can do.

Also, this is an example of why live television still needs to be a thing, at least sometimes.

Indeed. That was grueling just to watch, I can only imagine how much wear and tear it exerts on the players. Five hours... yikes! They both played intensely well to the end.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

I once played a 3 1/2 hour match on clay, and it was brutal. The balls get heavier and heavier, and it seems to take all your strength just to get a decent shot off. And that was when I was a teenager. I can't imagine having done a five hour match in my late 30's...

    Wimbledon was great this year.

I really enjoyed Simona Halep yesterday. She was delightful in the after-match stuff too - going through the hallowed halls, meeting Cambridge Kate, going down to her family in the players garden, etc. She seemed just as delighted with lifetime Wimbledon membership as the trophy. Fabulous.
