Felt sorry for our fox today.
Very hot and I forgot to renew the water in the bowl so I thought id give it one of my ice pops

Selected an orange flavoured one and threw it.

After a tentative sniff it took it back a few places into the shade. Lick lick lick then a bite or two.

Half way through the 12 inch ice pops he decided to save some for later and promptly buried it

Dumb fox, I hope I'm around when he sniffs it out and tries to finish off his treat

    Very rough photo

Having breakfast in the garden and this guy came for a brief visit.
Forgot I had the flash on so it took a while to focus then it scared him off.

EDIT : Found out this guy is an imposter!

It's called a Hornet Hoverfly or Volucella Zonaria.

He's actually a fly and harmless.

Wildlife and a bit of flower

Don't see many bumblebees around any more ....
I do what David Attenborough says and leave bottle caps with sugar water wedged in the flowers they normally visit. Gives them an energy boost in this heat.

First time I've fallen for something on the internet. Normally I read up on it first but this sounded like sound advice . Oh well, the bees etc seemed to enjoy it anyway

That’s apparently because it’s the equivalent of a fast food meal ....

So maybe that wasn't a bumblebee but an obese bee then

Caught this guy when I was fishing. As close as I could get with my phone. The fishing was obviously not very good!
