The dial and the scars of time...
I'm afraid this piece will disapoint many of you, because it is not the pristine example I would love to show. However, the watch is all original (the oversize crown is correct) and it shows the current time while still refuses to hide the flavour of the past.
The unpolished case keeps all its angles strongly defined. The dial, well, there's no way to ignore all its scars (in particular between the four and five marks) made even worse by the inclemency of my camera lenses.
Still showing a bit of life, under the right light conditions, though
I find it acceptable and in fact, quite charming
This watch (ref.: CK 2278-2 from the 40s) may be found with other dials, for example, with roman numerals and pulsations scale. It is not exactly a rare piece, but it's not that common, either. Mint examples are very difficult to find and really, really expensive.
Hope you liked this old piece of time and thanks for your patience.
Cheers,
C

Well, if you can't clean it up, it still shows its charm. And if you can clean it up, it will be a stunner. Either way, it's a winner.

yes was reading about it as you say pre-date the moon watch so the 27mm is the diameter looks bigger ? but then I thought that with the 3017 till I saw one up close

Thanks, mlcor.
I can clean the case, but I'm afraid I can't touch the dial, because it's already at it's cleanest possible stage (excluding a full repaint, something I will not do)

Yes, it's a 27 movement in a 35mm case.

I really like the looks of it as it is. It's beautiful and shows its age well. A watch like that deserves to keep some of the battle scars its picked up. Such wonderful numerals, too.
