Thread: Quartz chrono choices

    Quartz chrono choices

One of my purchases I am planning for next year is a quartz chrono. I could use a decent grab and go and I do a few activities where a quartz chrono would be useful. My problem is there are some many of the damn things I don't even know where to start.

    What I need
Able to be put on NATO straps (so no integrated bracelet)
$250-$500 (new or used but not old enough to be considered vintage)
Enough water resistance to stand up to being in the rain and possible being dunked in water reaching for disc golf disc
    Domed crystal
    38-44mm

    What I would like
    Smooth sweep hands
Lighter weight is better (titanium case?).
Racing inspired styling or Panda dial
A bit of WIS brand recognition wouldn't hurt

This Doxa caught my eye a little but I don't believe it has a domed crystal.

Have you considered anadigi? I find them to be the ultimate utility grab-and-go watches.

A Hamilton Flight Timer would easily fit into your budget, and it's a really nice watch.

    40mm.

Honestly not really a fan of ana-digi.

That's not a problem. People's preferences can be wrong.

Let me think on this. There are, as you noted, tons of choices.

A big part of my problem is I really like domed crystals and watches without them seem to not stick around. A lot of times it is hard to tell without a good side picture that maybe hard to find.

    Seiko SNA-411 Flight Chronograph.
42 mm, scratch resistant domed Hardlex, WR 200m.
Though, looking busy it's very easy to read.

My girl went watch looking with me and we found this piece in several forms. I was quite impressed with its fit and finish, the leather strap is very nice and i know that Fossil straps are durable, I've seen plenty in my watch hunting hobby.

Not everybody's cup of tea and yes it's a Fossil being a fashion watch for the most part the brand doesn't get a lot of respect from some of us in the collecting world.

Sweep second hand, the three I evaluated had second hands land on the index marks, don't recall a dome crystal though.

I really like it, in fact I have this one on order.

    Here's a couple other styles

    Peace,

I love my Tissot V8. Easy to wear, easy to use, easy to find for around $400.

Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
