Don't you hate it when that happens? Pool full of algae.

Damn it. It's been raining for a while and finally the sun comes out and the pool looks like this.
Now the question is - drain it? Which takes about 2 days. Then refill it - another day. Or use the little pump with the filter in it? Also takes forever.

I'm not a pool guy at all. Does a condition like this require a chlorine/acid "shock" treatment to clear up the water?

Normally there's these little chlorine tablets in a swimmer. But they were completely dissolved. I decided to let the pump run for a day and see what the effect is.

It's a pain this time of year because the water temps are perfect for growing algae. If your chlorine levels drop, it will bloom.

I would shock and filter it. If you drain it, some algae will still remain....contaminating the new water

Not sure about where you are, but refilling a pool can be expensive in some areas. Another reason I would shock and filter

Hope it is fixed and ready to enjoy soon!

    Definitely .
"We're gonna need a bigger pump!"
So that's what we bought - and some of that algae-killing stuff.
The water is already much clearer and the new pump is not as loud as the older, smaller one.

Much better now after three days running the new filter-pump.
