That watch is absolutely gorgeous. The date window is utterly incongruous with the vibe of that piece -- what a shame...

Yup. I love the color of the dial and the vibe of this watch. First choice would be to have no date window whatsoever. So long as there must be one, however, I find that the placement of the date window is too far toward the center of the dial. It bothers me every time I look at it -- and, I agree, the shortened marker at 3 o'clock just accentuates this asymmetry. Too bad, as it really is a nice piece

I think it’s possible to flick a switch in your head with dates. ‘Mismatched’ can become ‘contrasting’, ‘intrusive’ can become ‘convenient’, ‘dateless’ can become ‘blank’, etc.
Some look wrong to almost everybody, but with others I think it’s just a matter of personal taste, like preferring vanilla to chocolate.
I know that some don’t like the date on this one, for example - but I very nearly bought it because of it -

Agreed -- just beautiful!
If I ever felt compelled to spend $30K plus for a watch, I would bypass the usual suspects (PP, VC, AP, ALS) and head straight for Laurent Ferrier. Absolutely beautiful pieces. In particular, I absolutely love the Micro-Rotor Square series...

Salmon is my favorite fish--cooked or, preferably, raw--and that is a lovely dial.

Very much a favourite of mine, that one - although I might find it a bit big on the wrist.

Yup - checked out the size.
That’s saved me £31,300, and the price of a train ticket to London.

I'm really warming to the Diet Pepsi. Plus, since the Black Bay ETA bracelet fits, I could conceivably save some cash by buying the leather model instead of the bracelet (or simply get the bracelet, remove it, and replace it with either a strap or my non-rivet bracelet, and keep the bracelet safe in case I decide to resell it).
Realistically, a BLRO is out of the question. I'm a patient man, to a point. If it takes more than 3 or 4 minutes to get something I want, I'll lose interest. And the price is far too high to accept a Jubilee bracelet when it's not what I want. The Diet Pepsi is admittedly thick, but I'm told it hides a good deal of this thickness. And while it would be the thickest watch in my collection, it's far from the thickest watch I've ever owned. And I would like to add a GMT complication to my collection, though I had been planning on a 16570 Explorer II instead.
StockX posted a thickness comparison at the other place:
I don't know. Lots of time to think about it, though.

Some of those are getting quite pricey. I get Chrono24 notifications when 2011 examples (like mine) come up. They don’t come up that often, but I had one today - £6,000 for a white one.
You don’t have to pay that much, obviously, but still...

Yeah, Crown & Caliber has like 6 of them for between $5100 and $5700, but they're all black. Seems like the days of $4,000-$4,500 for a clean 16570 Polar are gone--even though those days were only like two months ago. Diet Pepsi is $3,900 on bracelet, and I bet by next year they'll be discounting them even.
