As part of NATO, West Germany was well prepared to be at the forefront of any Warsaw Pact invasion.
The Airforce flew the Panavia Tornado Tactical Fighter Bomber, Designed and built jointly with Italy and The UK.
Pilots were issued with Porsche designed Orfina Chronographs.

Polished 40mm case, 42.7mm with crown, 7.7mm thick, 42mm lug to lug 20mm wide
Interior aperture 31.3mm across, 3.5mm deep. 5mm Crown 35.3mm flat glass​.
Case engraved with watch description.
Dial
Black coloured 30.4mm dial, Seconds scale in white with green battons at 5 minute intervals.
Hours indicated by Arabic Numbers on raised ring under the glass.
​Gloss white baton style hours and minutes hands, Red seconds hand​ with ring pointer detail
Strap
Black PU leather 2​2mm wide, ​narrows to ​20mm polished buckle. approx. fitting 1​75-2​15​mm
