The training and preparation continues. Since it's just overnight, to save a bit of weight I've taken the spare pair of pants out. So clothing allotment beyond worn will be: Socks X2 Pair, 1x Skivvy, 1x Tank Top, 1x Long Sleeve Shirt, 1x Hoodie. If the night gets cold I've got an old Wool Surplus Blanket that I've had my whole life and is probably older than my Father.
Found some 550 Cord I'd been looking for, perhaps 60 or so feet. Enough for the trip. Added that.
Current Pack Weight: 37.2 Pounds. (can't wait until I've lost that to make the whole situation even) Personally down about 35 since June. Maybe more, I only weigh in once per week to try to measure around the natural rollercoaster of water/food weight. I'm no expert.
I've now done this route two nights in a row. I was 1 minute faster today. I'm personally going to attribute that to my boots. Yesterday I was wearing my Red Wing Loggermax Boots which weigh a total of 5 pounds 8 ounces (2.494 Kg). Today I was wearing my Kenetrek Mountain Extremes which weigh 3 pounds 9 ounces (1.615 Kg). I love the Kenetreks and they're of course what I'll be bringing.
A few months ago I struggled to mow my lawn. Make a pass, rest. Repeat. Embarrassing.
In a few weeks I've also got a "fun run" coming up that my Wife, Daughter & I will be participating in. Last one I attempted I dropped out. Not this time...
She'll keep me young yet.
