The West End Watch Company was founded in Bombay in 1886, they used quality movements from Swiss manufacturers to produce highly regarded watches during the First World War.
Near the end of the war the sub brand Sewar was introduced that became a firm favourite in India.
West End Watch ℅ were in a position to supply quality watches to the Indian government, and has sold Millions of watches throughout Asia.

Case back engraved with description of the watch. 28.5mm flat glass. 28.7mm interior aperture.

28.5mm white dial with black second scale at outer edge. Main hour markers are printed in green with a black border.
Mercedes type hands are chrome with green luminous infill, Seconds hand is red and has a small triangular luminous tip.

16mm green canvas strap narrows to 14mm polished buckle. 175-215mm fitting

Similar in size to the French Foreign legion watch this watch seems to be a bit of a throwback to an earlier period when watches were generally 5mm smaller. Other watches in the collection from the 1970s tend to be around the 40mm bracket.

Here it sits comfortably with some 1950s watches,

And here with its 1970s contemporaries it looks very dated.

West End did produce some re-editions of earlier watches that seem to have more than a passing similarity to this MWC watch. But I'm not so sure that it would have been army issue.

Personally I think it's a really nice looking case, very nicely shaped, and the canvas straps look good too, wish it was 40mm though.
