Yes, I agree.
To me they both look a lot closer to the MkII/Neo than the original Mk1 that is now the basis for THE modern Captain Cook reissue.

It is interesting to me that when Rado started re-issuing Captain Cooks in the 2000s, that the first advertising that I have is actually for a reissue of the Mark 2/Neo, rather than the original Mk I...
'66 - '67:
By '67 the advertising that I have seems to switch focus to the Captain Cook Mark 2 / Neo. All the advertising from then on and for the next 3-4 years that I have is for the Mk II/Neo....
Here are mine ('60s and '62-'65):

Great Christmasy colours there!
Thanks for that confirmation. There is a great repository of Rado knowledge here.

Weirdly in researching/searching this I also saw a few Rados with a small castle keep and the legend "Silver Castle".
But I've only ever seen a few of those...
Does anybody have any info about...
Oh I like the dial on that Neo!
Hi,
Watching some of our favourite auction sites, I've been seeing a few dials labelled "Silver Horse" Rados coming up.
Are these legit and was there actually a Silver Horse model. I'm far...
Wah! So jealous!
Henry, those are beautiful photos of that Accustar.
Oh those tentacles...
Seriously though, I do love the texturing on the dial, it adds a great deal of depth to the otherwise slate grey dial.
Down here, at the bottom of the world, it can...
My chrono would be my second choice too. I like the clean look of the champagne dial.

My Accustar still speaks to me:

My eyes!! :shocking:
Beauty. Thanks for that.
Hi,
Can I ask a question of the esteemed and far more knowledgeable members...
Can somebody explain the anchor on the crown vs the 'R' on the crown?
Thanks,
Slade.
I do have a thought about the DIA 18s in the orange casebacks.
I have noticed that an awful lot of the rose/aubergine cases that I have seen have nasty little "3pm cracks" near the crown. I...
Thanks for the ad posting BTW. That is the first ref I've seen to the "Magics".
I love the lapis dial too!
Does anybody know what the official name for that dial pattern is? I just called it the cammo pattern, because you know it looks like a cammo pattern. ;-)

I love that dial and case. I just have to find a reasonable, undamaged one...
Slade.
.... but, but... I LOVE it!
I am so disappointed that mine has a "3pm crack" in the beautiful pink/rose bezel/case :eek2:
(if only I could find someplace to source an un-cracked replacement, I...
