Thread: Post your "zen" watches

    Post your "zen" watches

What do I mean by this?

Maybe something that you put on to relax for the weekends or vacation. Something that you wear when you are lounging around. A piece that just helps put you in a relaxed state, perhaps because of the aesthetics or something else about it....

My GS Spring Drive is very zen to look at the perfect smooth sweep seconds hands. Not exactly sure how Seiko quoted the movement but it is suppose to represent the smooth linear motion of time and watching the seconds hand go around certainly makes me think of that. It is such a calming enjoyment to see.

My other one would be the Pam 561.
I never owned a two hander before and there is certainly something zen about it. It gives the illusion that time is moving slower perhaps. No motion on the dial except the steady slow paced minute hand. No date either which makes me forget about the day of the week. Having no date makes me think "Who cares? This is the weekend, vacation...etc, no worries!" Which IMO makes it a great vacation and weekend watch. The soft lume is also relaxing and easy on the eyes....

    What are you "zen" watches?

I have a few, for different reasons. First off is the Oceanus, which is always perfectly on time (NIST signal), never needs winding, never needs batteries (solar), and always knows the date. It just runs. It may not *look* very Zen, but it puts me at peace when I can't fuss.

Or it could be one of several humble hand-winds, no date, no fuss, and affordable enough that I don't baby them. The epitome of those might be the HMT Janata

Or for similar reasons, perhaps something calm and cool, with even a little bit of wabi-sabi, like this 1958 Royal Orient.

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Mlcor beat me to it, but here is my zen watch. It barely tells time.

Technically yours is more Zen since mine has a date.

Or less, if you count the fact that the white date bothers me on the rare occasion that I even notice it...

Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
