    Sleek is right.

It’s a remarkably good watch for the money, but then I have to remind myself that the recommended price is £369, rather than the £136 I paid.
Lovely dial. No seconds gives a more relaxed vibe. Ace

There’s not much to say about simple things. It’s slinky and sophisticated, slender but solid, and it runs on light. Nothing feels cheap. I was expecting it to feel lightweight, but it isn’t. I thought the fit and finish of the bracelet might be less than stellar, but it’s superb. The clasp is far from flimsy. The bevel on the lugs is a nice touch. There are contrasting brushed and polished surfaces where there hardly seems room for them.

There’s enough detail to keep your interest, and the radiating ‘guilloche’ is commendably subtle (and there’s some kind of magic in light passing through a solid dial). It’s seductively slim (38mm x 4.7mm), and you could wear it to a gathering of the sybarites without feeling like a fraud. Not bad for £136 (excluding postage and import fees).

I’m impressed, and having accomplished the bracelet resizing without too much drama, I’m glad I paid the extra $6 for it!

And it’s a Citizen - the common brand from the wrong side of the jeweller’s window.

It’s hard to capture the dial texture. Sometimes it’s there and sometimes it’s not, depending on the light. It’s less obvious than on a Seiko Presage, which I’m taking to be a good thing.
That first pic really does look like it’s just a drawing of a watch. I mean that in a very good way.

It does look like the Grand Central clock. I have passed by that clock a zillion times.

Well, one explanation could be that there indeed is a grandfather clock in Japan that was modelled after the GCT clock. (Or the other way around ).

    That's what I thought, too.

I think, I need to dial it down a notch. But I couldn't resist this one. And when you like watches that not many people like, you can still make a bargain. Less than 70€ was a steal for this one and it was about half of my maximum bid.

I am feeling similarly. And I also need to keep in mind that I have been living 120 miles or so from most of my watches (which have remained in the City). I’m jonesing for watches I might not even consider if I had my full collection in front of me every day.

That said, I have been eyeing the Orient Defender 2.

Considering it appears from the listing to have a sapphire crystal and my experience with Orient movements is they are very reliable I would call it a bargain!

I have the original Defender. It's a great little watch.
Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
