Good news...I think. My AD spoke to the Oris watchmaker, who said the "reverse wheel" was not functioning properly on my Oris Artelier. They have replaced it, and will keep it on a timer for a few more days before sending it back to my AD.
In the meantime, I am enjoying my Bulova "Selfwinding" watch.
Cheers,
Jane

Thanks, Henry. The watch is only 31.5 mm, which is perfect for me, but I guess fairly standard for a man's watch in 1965. I am greatly enjoying it.

Most of my mid-sixties watches are 36-39 mm, but then they are Rados.
Also, encouraging news on your Oris. My fingers are crossed that they will solve your watch problems this time.

Great news! Am I allowed to be smug now for correctly predicting something was wrong with it?

Yes, indeed! You had a strong suspicion something was wrong, ml.
