    New addition

    Hey Cats,

    Picked this up for a few pennies from the thrift store. The bag had a ton of junky watches that I tossed but this one is a keeper. I have no idea what it is yet but stay tuned for an update.

    well can probably work it out from guess

    so 1940's/1950's
    tank watch
    that design a bit rarer so off the top my head
    bulova did they go back that far been around longer then people think ...

    or even longines and the like but more like say central or gruen ( have I spelt that right) or possible hammy ..

    a lot of the respected company's now did a tank watch ..but so did hundreds of little Swiss company's that no-one ever heard of did I like any way got a thing for old watches that still go

    think I am going to call it even early and say it's a Gruen 'Techni-Quadron' or 'Doctors' watch, 1930s

    Well guys the watch is ready. It's a Birks chronometer from the 1930s. The movement is magnificent and so far is keeping excellent time based on comparing it to the Bulova Sea King I got for Father's day.

    I don't know who made the movement, I'll have to remove the hands and dial.

    The case is in pretty rough shape but the domed/faceted is actually quite nice with a few marks.

    This watch is big for its age I have to say.

    I'd like to find out who made this movement though, anybody care to assist? If so post your findings here
