The only slightly useful thing I know is putting my car keys in the fridge when I don't want to forget to bring my lunch to work, or beer when I'm going to a friend's house.

Almost daily I set my keys on something important that I can't forget to bring with my either later than day or the next.
I've had surgery twice and my short term memory is rubbish.
