I love those 4 subdial chronos.
But I never got one because of the way Seiko did the hands -- WHITE with SILVER frames.
WHY? WHy would they NOT use black frames on them so they show up clearly when they are over the WHITE subdials?
Seiko is not the only company to do this of course, but I will never understand the "aesthetics" behind a decision like this.
Most German brands I've seen do not do this.

When I came across a couple of these in very nice condition (replacement dials?) on ebay it took a fair amount of diligence to avoid buying one.
The variation in pricing is hilarious. One was 50% more than another, in seemingly identical condition.
Edit: ps I think this design shows that not all classic seventies designs are deliberately clumsy and garish
