I'm the other way around: always want to be able to use standard AA or AAA batteries, at least as an option.

The zoom goes from super wide to super focused.

Is it a torch or a projector?

Weird, right. As soon as I pull back the zoom ring the pattern quickly diffuses to a normal round look.

So the Nextorch TA30 arrived today. Can't say much so far, the battery is still charging. I will test it tonight. Build quality seems top notch and the operation with the tail switch and turnable ring seems genius as it makes it very easy to choose modes and operate it with one hand. Some pics:

It is slightly shorter than the Fenix UC35 but I do like the "lightsaber"-design of the Fenix a bit more. Both are small enough for EDC. Both are shorter than my cell phone (Xiamo Redmi Note 8T).
    Cheers, Sedi

This thread has tempted me to buy a new torch, but I’m too attached to my little (8cm) Fenix with its signs of wear. I think I’ve had it ten years, maybe more.

Nice! I got a mini-Fenix for the car keys. I think it's an E01. Rather useful for checking the coolant or stuff like that.

Not into the fancy schmancy super spendy 'artisan' lights, I go for robust, reliable, and small (in most cases at least).

I love the size of the E01, but it regularly comes unscrewed in my pocket.

Luckily that never happened to me but I don't carry it around that much. It's on the car key and I rarely drive. Maybe twice a week to do groceries. So I guess I don't have it in my pocket long enough for the head to become unscrewed.
    Cheers, Sedi
