Thread: Macro shots

    Macro shots

    Right up in your grille

Slightly related to the Which camera are you clicking with" thread, I thought I'd start one that just concentrated on macro shots that you've created (not stock shots )

As a beginner with some brand new kit I thought I might learn something along the line too.

So here's my humble first attempts - my kit is Pana GX7 and a Olympus 60mm macro (image stabilisation is on board this camera when using non-pana lenses), but obviously I should be using a tripod (Santa's bringing me one) - maybe you could remind us what kit you used to create.

For now, here's my first (handheld) attempts - early days for me, but I'm well impressed with the results so far.

I look forward to this thread!
I'm certainly no photographer, but I love the medium.

I used to have some stereo microscopes and enjoyed looking at all sorts of things with them. I may have to pick another one up.

Playing around with depth of field.

I use my work camera which is an old Canon 20D with a 100mm canon lens and a ring flash

I've only dabbled with the macro feature on my Lumix, and I must see how close it will go. A few close-ups to be going on with:

There's one thing these shots have taught me...... Clean thoroughly first, as every smudge and spec of dust shows.

Hmmmmm, it's got potential. Not sure I can properly/fully utilize it, but early days.
I think I/it might do better in natural light; though interesting effect from the flourescent tube in the AR coating:
