Companies that modify the movements they buy
I get very frustrated when I see designs which are fighting against specifications dictated by the generic movement being used. For example, six o'clock date windows hovering above the bottom of the dial, chrono subdials squashed in the middle of the dial.
And so I have great respect for companies that adapt the movements they buy in so that they don't have to compromise their designs.
Let's list every last one of them....
My example will have to wait for tomorrow when I'm back home and can look it up properly.

Old but Crafty
Most men's wristwatch movements are around 26mm. Unless you are casing up a chronograph movement or a pocket watch as a wristwatch you'll never need a giant case. Even chronograph movements are only 30 mm or so.

Dornbluth heavily modifies a 6497 on their 99 series watches. The sub-dial on the 99.0 was not centred, so they created the 99.1 by moving the position of the sub seconds. They also add their own hacking mechanism (quattro arret). I find the movement's decorative modifications to be a nice touch too.

Indeed. And the window could actually be larger--it's well within the edge of that 7750 movement.
Here's a 13''' movement in a 44mm case when it was originally happy in a 36mm case:
This doesn't have that "wrong" look, at least not to me.

Yeah - Nothing worse than those "watchmaking" companies shoehorning a small diameter movement into a large case and calling it a day. Lazy watchmaking :P
