GIGANDET SPEED TIMER CHRONOs - Classic Designs REVIVED
So, I took delivery of these two the other day.
Whoa! Amazing deal: 2 for under $150 to my door.
Would've been nice to set the hands at 10:10 for compositional purposes, but was too lazy to readjust the time.
The bezel is fixed on both models, despite its coined edge. I don't mind it one bit.
Although the name is GIGANDET, these are practically made by Citizen, basically. The movement is Miyota, with two subdials.
The chrono seconds hand is pegged to the center.
When it is engaged the hand runs fairly smoothly - not one sec at a time.
@ 9 is the minute counter - to 59 minutes.
@3 is the constantly ticking seconds hand.
Just the way I like my quartz chronos: tidy and prim, with no spastic ticking across the whole dial.
The lume is minimal - but not a big deal for me
The minute and hour hands are very legible all the time.
Altogether great design. These came on nice black leather straps, with respectively matching color threads, but I swapped them out for what you see here.
And now....

I like the look. Good design sense.
Too bad the bezels weren't functional and they should have at least tossed an 8215 in there. But for that price how can one complain.

One can always complain.
For example, at an eatery where the food is just awful awful awful.
...
And... the portions are too small, dammit!

Two perfectly acceptable chronos - with a vintage suggestion - at an extremely reasonable price. What's not to like?

Excellent choice of straps. They really compliment the watches very well. Nice grab.
