If everything else is original, and the dial is a quality job, and you love the piece...why not buy it ?, unless you're a purist of course.

Generally speaking I get different pleasures from new watches and vintage watches, and I'm not sure how I would feel trying to combine the experiences. Also iirc correctly the manufacturer of the confection was charging quite a lot for it.
My thoughts are in a bit of a jumble. For example: I would have zero problem with someone lovingly restoring something original which had got into a bad state.
