Thread: UK Watch repair recommendations thread

    UK Watch repair recommendations thread

Sometimes we need a little help with our watches, and those of us not brave or competent to service or repair our own have to enlist others better able.

I have had good experiences with various repair professionals, but I am always on the look out for someone local to me. The hardest part is finding a good one.

In any case, I can recommend Genesis Watchmaking Ltd, based in the UK, for your prized possessions.

I've also had good experiences with parts supply for an Oris from Andrew Charles Ltd, also in the UK.

    Watch repair recommendations thread

I can warmly recommend Stephen Burridge of Ryte Time Watch Repairs. He has tended many of my flock, and hasn't batted an eye at the Russian, French, Chinese and British watches I've sent his way.
Inexpensive, professional, and a total gent to deal with
ETA - based in Leicester, England, I've always sent my stuff to him by post

I can second the recommendation for Andrew Charles. They weren't too far from me when I lived in Hertfordshire. I also used Watch Doctors in Tring.

I've also heard nothing but good things about Genesis, and have been told that West Repairs in Walderslade (between Maidstone and Chatham) are excellent. I've been meaning to take a watch into them, actually, but haven't got round to it.

I can also vouch for Mr John Senior (Horologist).

Excellent prices and prompt response. For example, my Oris diver date was serviced for £65 plus postage last summer. My Seiko modded watch just had a crystal replaced and the hands re-set for £15 plus postage. If he posts it back to me tomorrow, that's a 4 day turnaround! Obviously individual work may vary but I'd say that's pretty good.

She came highly recommended and has done great work for me at astonishingly reasonable rates.
I may have to try them out. Thanks.

I can also vouch for West Repairs. I dropped a couple off to them a few weeks ago and had 1st class service.

I'd second Kath's recommendation for Ryte Time. I've used them a few times and been very impressed.
I'd also recommend Time Restoration in Hove. So far have only used them for a basic repair (replacement crystal) but was pleased with the work they did.

I knew the new thread seemed familiar!

Maybe this should be stickied in the Library?

To be honest having the two separate threads, one UK, one North American, would actually be pretty handy

I agree. Maybe a title edit for both to make them easily differentiable.
