Geoff is aware of it, I think. He is transferring the files to Gabe.

Why isn't the URL https://intlwatchleague.com working the same way as https://www.intlwatchleague.com? Is it a bug or feature?

At first glance, they do seem to be working the same way for me.

    What differences are you observing?

With the 'www.' part, I'm always logged in (provided that I have checked the 'Remember me' option at login). Without it, I'm always logged out at the front page, and after logging in I'm getting this:

    Name: Screenshot from 2020-05-31 22-39-10.jpg
Views: 54
Size: 43.9 KB

On my phone, I don't use bookmarks and go to IWL by typing in the first letters of the URL -- and my browser autocompletes it with the 'www-less' version (which is another story, I don't seem to be able to remove the unwanted URL from my browser without wiping the whole autocomplete data).

OK, I see what you mean, and I can replicate it.

I also notice that from the screen you’ve posted, if I click on the home icon things proceed as normal, with me logged in.

I have no idea what this means, or if it matters. A glitch, I guess, and our forum software is old, which may have something to do with it.

On phone and iPad, I visit the forum from shortcuts which bring me straight in, logged in and to the home forums page.

If by the home icon you mean the IWL banner in the upper left part, yes, all works as normal because the underlying link is https://www.intlwatchleague.com/forum.php (so with the 'www.' part). Same goes for all other links. I'm not a web developer and may be wrong, but it appears to me that using https://intlwatchleague.com calls some 'wild' instance of IWL or simply does not connect with the open login session.

I meant the little house symbol, but both that and the banner probably work in the same way.

Your diagnosis is probably correct but I don’t have the knowledge to confirm it.

OK, I had a look at the page sources and the first diff that pops is that SESSIONURL is missing in the www-less version. But that's irrelevant in that it's not the root cause but the result (probably of some script executions?).

Again, I'm not a web dev or admin, but in my simple mind different versions of html source are called depending on whether the www or www-less URL is submitted in a browser, and it should be enough to make sure the same, correct source is called in both cases? Or am I talking rubbish and it won't fix the issue because for example the submitted URL is used further to generate content dynamically? Gabe? Geoff?
