Of course it does!
Those were also used for courts, periods when the court would be sitting, if I'm not mistaken.

Totally wacky hobby related event at work this week. Guy walks in and wants some printing done. Some copyright protected printing. some watch related copyright protected printing. He's wearing a nice watch. Unbranded. Really nice. Takes it of and shows it to me. Beautifully engraved movement. Says he did it. With a thick accent of an ethnic group who are major immigrants to my little part of the world. I think I met one of the legendary Ukrainian "marriage" watch builders.

And in answer to the first question any of us would ask me, no.

Oh, I already knew that one. Michaelmas, named after Michael Sheen, Hilary after actress Hilary Swank, we know how much you Brits love boxing movies, what with the Marquess of Queensbury and all, and Trinity, for when you put a jammy dodger, a slice of a chocolate orange, and a wedge of Stilton together and eat them all at once, which is the official Oxford snack. Common knowledge, mate.

That’s right, together with Easter. Also, rents and tithes were often due at Michaelmas.

You'll have to enlighten me as I have no idea what this means.

A marriage watch is a pocket watch strapped to a bracelet or the movement put in another case. So not a fake, but a marriage of various parts. That'll be the 47mm patek for 3k.

And many of the dodgiest watches on the market were cobbled together in Ukraine. Some from other Eastern European countries too, but ‘Ukraine’ was a bit of a red flag on eBay.

Today I met with my boss and we agreed on a plan for me to retire on August 5. This gives me 25 years there by a few days and helps with a few other things. After the merger it's not remotely the same company. It's time to go off and not have work always in the way. Both a happy and sad day.
