Thread: Rum

    Rum

We have a whiskey and beer thread so why not rum?

I will admit I am not a rum connoisseur but my favorites.

Kilo Kai plus Mexican coke equals the best rum and coke period. It is heavenly.

    And for drinking straight.

When mixed with coke, I do like spiced rums. My two favorites are:

I have tried Ron Zacapa XO and that was some good stuff. I will have to try that one sometime.

You're mistaken about the best rum and coke ever, but I bet I can explain it.

Is the best. Coke must come from a glass bottle for optimal performance.

But, unfortunately my American friends don't have access to Havana Club. That might change though, and I highly recommend it if you ever get the chance.

For sipping, I have a bottle of this as well, and it is excellent once in a while, but very sweet on the palette of someone used to whisky.

It is now my duty to completely drain you.

I will have to try some if I get a chance. But it would be hard to beat Kilo Kai.

Also you have the wrong Coke. I has to be Mexican coke.

Cane sugar instead of corn syrup. If you like rum and coke, you need to do one with Mexican coke instead of regular coke.

    No, no NO!

Looks inviting, but tried it once and ending up sleeping in the bathroom for two days.........

Rum and coke? Or the kraken?

I really enjoy the kraken, but it is not a beginner rum. It mixes well, and can be sipped on its own as well. Last fall, a friend brought a bottle of it on a canoe trip, he tipped it into a platypus bag and after we has made camp on the first night, he pulled it out to everyone's delight. We sat around the fire telling tall tales, and passed it around till it was gone.

We didn't do any paddling the next day.
It is now my duty to completely drain you.

The Flor de Cana is, well, rum. The Blackwells is not very sweet. It is almost like whiskey. It is not a great spirit, but I like it.
