Thread: eBay thread

  1. #1

    eBay thread

Can we do a thread for eBay finds?

Both to post auctions that you think are neat, aren't sure if the are frankens/ fakes or just cool stuff you just won.

I'll start with this neat vintage Invicta I saw. I haven't seen one like it before.

I'll be fuzzy and say yes and no.

I would like the eBay find to push some degree of conversation. I'll take your post as an example. My Invicta is a Rolex wannabe. But still marked Invicta. Until you posted this thread, I had no idea there were anything like vintage Invictas. So I would like to see the OP push it and say why it is a neat and or vintage or why it is franken. I prefer to see no fakes. I would also like the threads to avoid looking like a sales thread.

    I hope that helps,

    Dan

Yeah Invicta is a "zombie" brand. They were founded in 1837 and went bottoms up during the quartz crisis.

They came back in '90s. Of coarse they try to claim the old companies history as their own and fabricate some other stories (like providing the original Agat dive watch).

As far as that watch I am kinda curious about it too.

Edit: also my intent with the thread was to show off cool vintage watches that we won on eBay and to ask questions about watches we weren't sure about.

Looks to be an ETA of some sort. Mainspring should be real easy to get if so. If it doesn't need any/many parts, I would look for someone to do it. I am out of touch for prices, but someone local should give you a decent quote. Get references too. You don't want someone who will dunk it and rinse it off.

Get some quotes and weigh it against how often you will wear it.

    Cheers!

Great looking watch but then I saw the bracelet and the size...
