Panerai love 'em or hate 'em???

In honor of Chronopolitanoopolis I thought we could use something to move the blood pressure up just a bit.

I am on the fence with Panerai, not really sure whether I like them or not, maybe when I get a few more I can finally decide.... tongue out of cheek now.

    So what you got?

    Love em?
When you hear the word pig do you not think of bacon?
Do you know the secret Paneristi handshake?
Do you know at least 50 Panerai reference numbers?
Do you think 40mm watches are for women only?
Do you know what a Bronzo sells for?
Do you know Panerai is releasing a new Submersible collection at SIHH this year?
Each reference is unique and quite different from all the others

    Hate me?
    Over priced
    Over sized
    bland
    all look alike
higher on the douche-o-meter than a two tone sub with diamond markers?

So, how do you feel about Panerai? Don't hold back, let it all hang out.

I would like one of these as it's one of only a few Panerai models that I like, but simply don't have £12,000 to spend on a watch. The other models that I like are even more expensive. Can't afford them - End of.

I love the vintage ones. They have so much history and charm. I love the hand made look.

I am not really sure on the modern ones. I kinda want to get a modern Radimor one day though.

I am slowly gathering parts to build a very nice homage to the original 3646. I have a beautiful plexi Rivet dial. I am planning on using Nightwatch heat blue hands with a Cortebert 616 (which is very very closely related to the original 618 used in 3646) with a Nightwatch 3646 case which isn't cheap. To me Panerai just doesn't have a watch in the range that captures to the beauty of the original.

I love the look but not the price and the hype.
"Copies" are fine with me. Have a few. 99% of the pleasure.

I quite like them, although I will never own one, they are too big for my liking and too overpriced for what they are (even by luxury watch standards in my opinion)

The 438 Tuttenero is the last one I have on my current list to buy, the 512 (42mm Radiomir) is the next up. The one I really want but WAY to expensive is the 518, only 50 made, build on a Minerva 13-22 base movement and cased in platinum, the price makes even Patek blush a little.

That's all you got... from the International Watch League "bad boy". Why don't we all get together and sing kumbaya around the campfire?

I love them, but on other people. They are great, but just not "me".
