That’s not too bad. When I was in school, we were out from early June to either late August or early September.

I would like to see year-round school. My daughter had a student teacher who got a job in a district with year-round school and it sounded perfect: in for six weeks, out for two weeks. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I like having a big break, personally. And I think it would be easier on working parents. Just send the kids to summer camp if you can’t be around all the time.

As a teacher, I think the summer break is too long; brain drain is real. I'm teaching summer school for something to do. It's also a more consistent and predictable schedule, something that would benefit both parents and students. Plus, not every family has access to or can afford to put their kids into summer camps.
