I would expect the law of diminishing marginal returns to kick in long before the $30k mark.
I think people who are seriously considering a watch that costs as much as the average car just want the absolute best money can buy.

I assume that this particular VC is in platinum, since the WG version, with silver dial vs grey (the horror!) is only MSRP $21k.
Not that the rational of 13x vs 8x is greatly different, but precious metal is obviously a factor.....
That said, I wouldn't kick either out of bed for eating crackers (but I'd pick a smaller Orion for a better subdial placement, or fill the empty space with the date).

Yes, it's platinum. I think VC only makes grey dials with their platinum watches, unfortunately.

One more reason why i chose 35mm version. I agree that the date makes the 38mm look much better.
