I left out the brands Kipling, Olivier Strelli, Elini, Tamawa, Komono and River Woods cos they are not significant for the WIS. Verdal becouse they no longer make watches and Maxence Van Der Bauwede ( http://www.vdb.ch/ ) cos their activity is in Geneva. Perhaps the list is not complete.

I am looking forward to see what brands will be posted here by YOU guys (and galls). Thank you for reading!
    Kind regards,
    I-B

    the watch-brands from your country

I admit that I have never heard of half of those brands! Ressence is by far my favorite.

Does the U.S. get to claim the brands that originated in our country, too? Hamilton, Ball, Elgin, Waltham, etc.?

Do they have to still be in production? My wife's great-great grandfather was Hermann von der Heydt. His company was called the Self Winding Watch Co. He invented a new automatic winding movement and according to the NAWCC are considered one of the last achievements in american watchmaking.

Here's a photo of an HvdH that was up for auction recently.

i did not include watches that are originated in Belgium but are not built here anymore, also i left out the brands that that are no longer in production.

The story of your wife's great-great grandfather is awesome!

Here are some short films about the Ressence "no hands no crown" watch :

    USA?

Shinola comes to mind if you consider that a US made watch, otherwise open to suggestions.

Wow, i really like the Rajamäen Kellotehdas-watch! altough in my language the name might be some dirty words, Kelloteh= your "gentlemans thingy" You have any idea about the prices (€)? Great to see watches from countrys other than the obvious!

I can only think of Alexander Christie from Indonesia (it's a local eurasian brand that are actually quite respectable)

    We also have:

RGM (They have American made cases and movements in several models. Great guys too. I have had the pleasure of meeting folks from the RGM team on several occasions.)

Kobold (I think they still make some in the U.S.)

Towson Watch Co. (They make some nice and some quirky designs)

Keaton Myrick makes some gorgeous watches out in Oregon.

Xetum was based in the U.S. I believe but they have since been sold to another company.

MKII Watches is based close to me.

Lüm-Tec (umlaut and all) is based out of Ohio.

Filson is a sister brand of Shinola. All sales line the same pockets of the venture capital group that owns both companies.

I am probably forgetting a few but that is all I can think of at the moment.
