    Monogamy: Necessity? Fantasy? Misery?

On this day of affirming our love,

Is monogamy essential for wholeness, society and the family?

Is it too easy to move on and commitment to 'one' too difficult?

Is remaining in a miserable relationship better than an insatiable search for more?

These questions can be applied to watches too?

Personally, when single and dating monogamy is not necessary as long as you are honest in your relationships.

In a committed relationship be it marriage or not I believe monogamy is essential for a happy stable trusting home life, especially if children are involved.

If that relationship is not working then finish cleanly get out and then look around.

I guess I have always been a serial monogamist. But that is just me other things work for other couples but I am at an age now where I have seen a great many failed marriages among my peers.

Edit...on the watch front I am in favour of a harem.

The determining factor is "committed relationship", you then both owe that loyalty to each other....or don't "commit",,,,,thus the phrase, unconditional love.

If you don't buy into it, then don't make that promise to your partner....it's so fricking simple a caveman could do it.

Ok. Assuming we're not talking about people who are dating, but rather adults in some kind of long-term relationship where monogamy would be the norm (according to their society, culture, peers, etc.):

I don't think there's anything wrong with an "open relationship." People should have the opportunity to be happy (make yourself happy, but do no harm), but it usually ends in hurt feelings, misinterpretations, and separation. Also, everyone I've ever met who describes themselves as following that lifestyle seems a bit touched by the thunder. Just an observation.

I thought we are talking about monogamy, not love.

Maybe the threat of having your head smashed with a rock inspired monogamy 😁
