With an automatic, I don't hand wind them much and assume that my daily activity will wind it fully and that it would be ready to pick up and go the next morning. But I have a desk job sitting in front of the computer the entire day and most days, I am not even close to generating a full power reserve and my automatics stop in the wee hours of the morning.
Long story short, a power reserve on an automatic would be much more useful than on a manually wound watch.
The reality, I don't like power reserves on automatic watches and the only watch I own with a power reserve indicator is a manually wound watch. So I just watch the little gauge climb up as I wind it and stop when I feel resistance in the crown and not when the needle tells me it's full.
I also have a desk job, and have never had a watch stop on me.

I have found that some people just like to hear themselves typing.

True, I think I should probably have used the term "features" instead

Well mine don't actually stop on me either. They stop in the middle of the night when they are resting on their little pillows.

Don't need Date, in fact I prefer it without.
Things like moon phase and the like are very unnecessary to me and wouldn't consider them.
Conversely my favor complications are small seconds and power reserve. To me those are the two most useful.
